This story and film are not new to audiences in New Zealand, and nor are the players.  However Bannockburn Arts Charitable Trust are in a position to offer you a new take on this old film, a Director’s Cut that includes footage never seen before.  Scenes that give a new dimension to the courage and skills of the drivers in a turbulent river that seems determined to allow no one through.

The grandeur of the great river Ganges, the enthusiasm of the Indian people, the beauty of the sailing Dows, this film takes us back to a simpler time and shows us a journey of great contrasts and vitality.
